Fabric Dinosaur Card

Today hubby had to work so I was not able to work on my craft room. I wanted to make a card that would go with the project for this Friday's "Fabric Friday Challenge, which that project you will have to wait until Friday to see. lol... As you can probably guess both are for my grandson.

I wanted to use the same fabric on the dinosaur. Since I have never cut fabric on my expression I went to You Tube. I did not have on hand any of the products that were recommend to stiffen the fabric. So here is what I decided to try.

I took a piece of heavy weight card stock a 5X5 inch piece since I wanted to cut the dinosaur at 4 inches. I ran it though my Create a Station. Then place the material over it and really ran the bone folder over and over it to make sure it stuck well. Placed it on my fairly new mat. I was still afraid that the piece might move so I taped all the edges with blue painted tape. Made the cut. It cut very well. Will use this method again for sure.

The card base I attached a pattern paper for the sky. Then took brown card stock and made a wave cut using rotary cutter for the ground and ran it through the Cuttle Bug. Used a grass punch and cut a strip, cut it down into smaller pieces where I could angel it behind the ground and attached grass and ground to card base. Leaving the tops of the grass unglued to let it stand out from the card.

Layered the dinosaur, which was a cut from Create a Critter. Grandson loves googly eyes so the dino got some big ones. lol  The spots I filled in with glitter glue. Used glossy accents on the orange and black enamel for the mouth and a few drop to represent toe nails. Used pop dots to attached him to the card base.

Clouds and light green grass were also cuts from Create a Critter. Inked the edges. Stamps the clouds. grass again was left unglued at the top. One cloud was glued down while the other was popped up.

Just a real quick and easy card.

  3. Dino-mite creation. I've cut felt but not any other fabric on Cricut. Not familiar with a Create a Station. Is it like a Xyron or Your Story that laminates or puts adhesive backing on something?
